Weekly Announcements - Week of 12/12 to 12/16

COVID-19

 

***Updates***

COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:

  • Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals

  • Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period

  • Improvement of all other symptoms

  • Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.

If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.

Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.

HMS After School Tutoring

Tutoring will be facilitated this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:15PM-4:15PM. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. May.

Student ID Badges/Chromebooks 

All HMS students will/have received an ID badge and chromebook. Parents, students are expected to have their ID badges and chromebooks daily. Per new district guidelines, once a student loses or damages his/her chromebook, a replacement will not be issued. Students will only be allowed to use a chromebook in the classroom. Parents may donate the price of the chromebook for replacement. 

 

Bullying 

Parents, HMS bullying reporting forms are available with our counselors. When a student notifies a teacher or staff member at HMS regarding bullying, the student will be directed to complete the bullying reporting form and submit it to their assigned counselor. 

 

JCIB Open House for Prospective Students

Parents, if you are interested in learning more about JCIB, there will be an informational meeting on December 13th

 

Tuesday, December 13th @ JCIB Shades Valley High School Campus

5:30pm - 6:00pm - Tour the school and meet teachers

7:00pm - 8:00pm - Informational Meeting in the Auditorium

Parents, please review the attached Parental & Family Engagement Plan. As a Title One Parent, you have the right to know the opportunities to be involved at HMS. If you have any questions about our plan, please contact our Parent Involvement Coordinators, Dr. Allen or Mr. Poe.

Reminders

**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students. 

**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.

**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

**Parents, deliveries and DoorDash are not allowed for students at Hueytown Middle School. 

**All parent conferences are scheduled through the main office. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office. 

 

Student Announcements 

**Attention Ladies, the Miss HMS Pageant will be held on Saturday, February 4th at 1:00 p.m. at Hueytown High School. Pageant packets are available in Mrs. Wallis' office . All registration paperwork should be turned into Mrs. Wallis. Deadline for registration is December 14th. Please join us for the Miss HMS Pageant 2022 -2023.

 

Monday, December 12th: HMS Basketball Teams (Girls & 8th Grade Boys Only) will travel to Fultondale for competition play. Tipoff for the 1st game is @ 4:30PM

 

Tuesday, December 13th: HMS Holiday Dance sponsored by HMS PTA @ 6PM-8PM, Competition Gym. Students must have their HMS student ID Badge in order to participate. 

 

Wednesday, December 14th: HMS Girls Basketball Team will host Chilton Co @ HHS. Tipoff is @ 4:30PM

 

Thursday, December 15th: HMS Basketball Teams will host Corner MS @ HMS for competition play. Tipoff for the 1st game is @ 4:30PM. Students will NOT be allowed to remain on campus after dismissal to attend the game. Students must leave campus after school.
