COVID-19

 

***Updates***

COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:

  • Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals

  • Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period

  • Improvement of all other symptoms

  • Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.

If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.

Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.

HMS After School Tutoring

Tutoring will be facilitated this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:15PM-4:15PM. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. May.

Student ID Badges/Chromebooks 

All HMS students will/have received an ID badge and chromebook. Parents, students are expected to have their ID badges and chromebooks daily. Per new district guidelines, once a student loses or damages his/her chromebook, a replacement will not be issued. Students will only be allowed to use a chromebook in the classroom. Parents may donate the price of the chromebook for replacement. 

 

Bullying 

Parents, HMS bullying reporting forms are available with our counselors. When a student notifies a teacher or staff member at HMS regarding bullying, the student will be directed to complete the bullying reporting form and submit it to their assigned counselor. 

 

2nd Nine Weeks Awards Ceremony

Attention Parents, we will recognize the achievements of our students during our 2nd Nine Weeks Awards Ceremony on February 8th @ 8:30AM in the competition gym. Parents, please review the attached list of recipients. If you have any questions regarding why your student’s name is not on the list for a particular award, please contact Mrs. Wallis as soon as possible. We want to make every effort to acknowledge all students who are deserving of an award. 

 

Reminders

**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students. 

**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.

**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

**Parents, deliveries and DoorDash are not allowed for students at Hueytown Middle School. 

**All parent conferences are scheduled through the main office. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office.

 

Student Announcements 

**Attention Students: There will be a MANDATORY Cheer parent meeting on March 16, 2023 at 5:30pm in the competition gym for any girl who is interested in trying out for the 2023-2024 cheer squad. If your  parent does not attend this meeting, you will not be able to participate in tryouts.

**Attention Students: Beginning this Wednesday, the Baseball team will be selling Candy-grams for $2. You will have the opportunity to purchase a candy-gram during your lunch period to send to someone here at the school for Valentine’s Day. Candy-grams will be passed out on February 14th during 2nd period. 

 

**Congratulations to our Lady Panther Basketball Team for winning the 2023 Jefferson County Tournament. The Lady Panthers went undefeated this season. Thank you Coach Whitfield, Coach Hawkins and Coach Cannon for your leadership this season. Go Lady Panthers.

Wednesday, February 1st: Miss HMS Pageant Practice @ HHS Auditorium @3:30PM. Miss HMS Pageant tickets will also be available for purchase during the school day @8:30AM-2PM.
