Our School

  • U.W. Elementary School’s staff is dedicated to the needs of the whole child, preparing students to reach their maximum potential in a never-changing society. Each student is guided to be the best person he/she can be physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, and aesthetically. The staff strives to be a positive role model in all areas of the school in order to assist and guide students to become valued members of our democratic society.

The staff believes the school should be a safe environment, a place where students feel secure enough to take risks, to ask questions, and to learn to love learning. The staff recognizes the uniqueness and different contributions of each student. Efforts are made to create an atmosphere of tolerance and respect for one another in order to build each student’s self-concept to the highest possible level.

U.W. Clemon Elementary School provides a curriculum designed to assist each student in developing a system of values, higher-level thinking skills, a healthy respect for one’s own body, the ability to work cooperatively with others in a multi-cultural society, as well as basic skills needed to function in today’s society. The instructional program, which is based on the State of Alabama’s College and Career Readiness Standards, is evaluated frequently to monitor its effectiveness in meeting the needs of our students.
