Dr. Monte B. Abner

I am a native of Wilcox County, Alabama and a 1997 graduate of Wilcox Central High School.  After graduating from high school, I entered Talladega College on a presidential scholarship and graduated with honors in 2001 with a degree in English Education.  I also attended the University of Alabama and received a Masters’ Degree and an Ed. S. in Educational Leadership and a doctorate in Educational Administration.

Currently, I have 20 years of experience in education. I taught English at Fayetteville High School and served as girls' basketball coach.  I also taught English at Talladega High School and served as ISS teacher, ARI secondary reading coach, academic coach, and sponsor/advisor to several clubs and organizations. In 2009, I left the classroom to become assistant principal at Saks High School.  I remained assistant principat at SHS until 2012 when I took on the role of assistant principal at Weaver High School. 

At the conclusion of the 2012-2013 academic year, I accepted the position as principal of Indian Valley Elementary School, a PK-2 school in the Syclacauga City School System. I held this post for six years until May 2019 when I accepted the position of principal of McAdory Middle School.

In addition to my professional career, I serve on my church's (Champion Church Talladega) leadership team and director of leadership and ministry development, as well as community outreach.  I am the  co-founder and executive director of MIRROR Image Male Mentorship, Image League Basketball, Man UP Initiative, Face 2 Face Mentoring Breakfast, Choices Teens, and Manifest Destiny Boys Summit.
